Advisory Board

The Legacy Fund Advisory Board is designed to offer the fund guidance with respect to its business and operations. In addition to aforementioned members David Fenkell and James Steiker, the Legacy Fund Advisory Board consists of the following industry professionals:



Ronald J. Gilbert

Ronald J. Gilbert serves on the Legacy Fund Advisory Board. In addition to his advisory role at the Legacy Fund, Ron currently serves on the board of directors of the National Center for Employee Ownership, The ESOP Association’s Legislative and Regulatory Advisory Committee, and four ESOP companies. Ron is cofounder and President of ESOP Services, Inc., an international consulting firm specializing in all aspects of ESOP applications and ESOP privatization for private and public companies and government-owned entities. Ron is also the co-author and co-editor of Employee Stock Ownership Plans: ESOP Planning, Financing, Implementation, Law and Taxation, the most comprehensive work on the subject, published by the Beyster Institute.

Ron holds a M.S.F.S. degree from The American College as well as a B.S. degree from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.

 
Dr. John S. Hoffmire

Dr. John S. Hoffmire serves on the Legacy Fund Advisory Board. In addition to his advisory role at the Legacy Fund, John is the Director of the Center on Business and Poverty at the University of Wisconsin at Madison School of Business. John’s research and work have had a particular focus on employee stock ownership plans. Before joining the University of Wisconsin, John was the founder and CEO of his own investment banking firm where he helped employees buy and manage approximately $2 billion worth of ESOP stock.

John holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University.

 
Anthony I. Matthews

Anthony I.Mathews serves on the Legacy Fund Advisory Board. In addition to his advisory role at the Legacy Fund, Anthony is the Director of the Beyster Institute at the Rady School of Management, University of California, San Diego. Before entering academia, Anthony was a Vice-President with Principal Financial Group. Anthony is a founding member of both the National Center for Employee Ownership and The ESOP Association. He serves on the board of editors of the Journal of Employee Ownership Law and Finance; is a former Director of The ESOP Association and Chair of its Advisory Committees’ Council; has been a Director and the Chair of the National Center for Employee Ownership and is a life member of The ESOP Association’s California/Western States Chapter Steering Committee. Anthony has published over 100 articles on a wide range of topics related to employee ownership and contributed chapters to both the definitive text Employee Stock Ownership Plans and The ESOP Association’s Administrative Handbook.

Anthony holds a M.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles, as well as a B.A. from Loyola University.
