The Legacy Committee is dedicated in the memory of Dr. John Logue. John was both a friend and colleague to many at the Legacy Fund and one of employee ownership’s greatest champions. Through his work at the Ohio Employee Ownership Center, John was personally responsible for creating thousands of employee owners and thereby protecting the jobs of countless Ohio residents. In the wake of his untimely death, the Legacy Fund feels it is more important than ever to address the needs of ESOP sustainability and awareness. We have created the Legacy Committee to continue along the path of service to the ESOP community that John tirelessly forged for over a quarter century. Accordingly, the primary goal of the Legacy Committee is to use the resources of the Legacy Fund to foster the sustainability of Employee Stock Ownership Plan companies. Sustainability will be defined broadly. Most particularly, sustainability will be addressed through presenting models to the ESOP community, government bodies and broader business interests. A model is a holding company combining ESOP firms under a fund or multiple funds. An additional goal of the Legacy Committee is to support various employee ownership programs at universities in the U.S. Three such programs are based at Kent State University, University of California at San Diego, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Of particular interest to all three universities are projects related to expanding employee ownership to influence the lives of more employees from diverse minority backgrounds. Another project being pursued involves the creation of an on-line, multi-university program to teach employee ownership skills and concepts. Students and faculty from other universities are welcome to participate. Dr. John Hoffmire serves as the Chair of the Legacy Committee. |
